ALBUMS

BORROWED VOICES: HYMNS REIMAGINED is a multi-instrumental album that takes classic hymns and recreates them using a variety of acoustic and folk instruments.
My intent was to preserve the musical integrity of the original tunes while allowing the creative freedom to express a new interpretation.
Most are hymns that I have sung my entire life and, therefore, they have both a musical and a spiritual significance to me that I hope is communicated in the music you hear.

In 2021, from my home outside of Rochester, NY, I sat down with a laptop and a couple microphones at the same piano that I had practiced at as a teenager and recorded my first album.
FEAR & WONDER captures the music I created in my youth. A few songs I have written more recently, and there is one arrangement of a favorite Christmas hymn.
You can read more about the album’s music, art, and creation in the liner notes below.

SINGLES

A contemplative arrangement of the ancient hymn “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence,” carried by guitar and piano and shaped by stillness and reverence.

“Through the Pine” is an original composition featuring the mountain dulcimer. It is inspired by the natural beauty found in the old growth pine forests around Western NY.

“Mountain Dulcimer Christmas Medley” is an arrangement of three classic Christmas carols featuring a baritone mountain dulcimer as the lead instrument. Enjoy!

“River Song” is an original instrumental folk composition inspired by the flowing waters of the Genesee River and the natural beauty of Letchworth State Park in New York.
Featuring the hammered dulcimer, this track blends guitar, cello, banjo, mandolin, bass, accordion, cajón, frame drum, tambourine—and even the recorded sounds of the Middle Falls themselves.

“Copper Leaf Jubilee” is the first piece I wrote featuring the hammered dulcimer.
It is a celebration of the season of autumn and the natural beauty it displays as the world around prepares for the winter cold to descend (at least, in Western New York).

“Let Them Forget” is an original composition. A lament.

“Fragile” is an original composition and creating it was, for me, a form of music therapy.
This song recalls the events of a particular night of my life.

“Mandolin Meddlin’” emerged as I was trying out mandolins in the local shop, testing how different ones felt and played.
I used this song as a way to familiarize myself both with the mandolin and the acoustic bass.

“Celestial” was my first original multi-instrumental composition. As an added challenge, I decided to compose it in an odd time signature.
In so many ways, this song was the piece that set everything in motion toward multi-instrumental composition.
